Richard Smithline
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Smithline has over 35 years of diversified Wall Street experience as an investor, investment banker and corporate and securities attorney. He has participated in over $50 billion of transactions as an investor and advisor. Prior to forming Centrecourt Asset Management, Mr. Smithline was a partner at Scoggin Capital Management, an event-driven, special situations hedge fund. Mr. Smithline was also a Managing Director at Wasserstein Perella & Co. and its successor Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, initially in Leveraged Finance and subsequently in the Media, Telecommunications and Technology Group. Mr. Smithline was also a partner at the law firm Shea & Gould and an associate at Cahill Gordon & Reindel where he had significant corporate and securities experience representing primarily investment banks and financial institutions in mergers and acquisitions, public offerings and private placements of debt and equity securities, bridge financings and restructuring transactions. He received a J.D. from New York University School of Law and a B.S., magna cum laude from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
William Smithline
Principal
Mr. Smithline has over eight years of diversified Wall Street experience as an investment banker at major Wall Street firms. Prior to joining Centrecourt, Mr. Smithline was a member of the Mergers and Acquisitions group within the Investment Banking and Capital Markets division at Credit Suisse. Mr. Smithline has advised on approximately $15 billion of transactions domestically and internationally across a broad range of sectors. Such transactions have included buy-side and sell-side mergers and acquisitions, including hostile and contested situations, and shareholder activism/ defense as well as assorted financing transactions. Before Credit Suisse, Mr. Smithline worked at TAP Advisors, a boutique investment bank focused primarily on companies within the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications sectors. Mr. Smithline graduated in 2015 from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business with a B.S. in Business and a concentration in Finance. He served as captain of NYU’s varsity tennis team, on which he played for four years.
